…and a man that is inventing or trying something new?

Correct, but these are the two basic motivation, fears of the future and regrets of the past. When a man is inventing, he’s creating solution so in the future, life can be easier and so on. That means, fears of the future is still the motivation of his action. And when a man is trying something new, he’s referencing of something in past, that hasn’t been working for him and driven him to try something new. That means, regrets of the past is still the motivation of his action. Fears and regrets aren’t always negative as long as they are within reasons. They are feelings to make humans humans, and also evolve in their species =)
